Banquette Completed

As you read here, it was surely time to create our banquette if we planned on hosting Christmas. We weren't fully certain as to how we were going to do this. The first thing we did was head to Lowes to get some wood. Whether we were going to build the entire thing from scratch or find another solution was beyond us. That is until we stumbled upon a little flea market selling cabinets! We then knew exactly what we were going to do.

Chris used the 2x4s that he purchased from Lowes and began to build a base frame:

From there the cabinets were primed and painted white:
Then Chris attached the cabinets to the base:
You can see where Chris added a piece of plywood in the corner section since we knew that that particular cabinet door would not be able to be opened. Then he attached the top which was plywood:
After filling in the empty areas with more plywood, adding the molding to the bottom and putting the doors back on, it was finished!! All in a weekend. We soon added pillows and cushions from Garden Ridge, which we selected because of it's durability. When the boys are around we won't have to worry about not being able to clean kid messes. Much later we added artwork from Hobby Lobby, and now we have a completed banquette that comes in handy when we have guests!

So the before corner:
Is now a completed after corner! With storage to boot!

Now our kitchen is complete!! Well almost :-)
