Blase' Day

You know the saying, today is one of them days? Well that is how I feel today and I don't really know why. I literally stayed in my pajamas until around 3:30pm. That could have something to do with it, I should have gotten up and headed to church. I am just unable to snap out of it today and find motivation. We still have a zillion home improvement projects pending and today I let that bother me. For all of the great things that we've done, there are still those annoying little things that linger. Most people may not let it bother them but I have a thing about aesthetics and if they are not right I began to feel anxious. Now, this doesn't happen all the time but today that feeling was at a fever pitch. What is interesting is that when we have company they do not see these details. Or, since they know how far we've come these details just seem small to them. Here are some of the many little (big to me) details that I took the time to take pictures of to share with you.

Open vents that we need to get stained inserts for
There were a zillion of these in the house, we first got the wrong size plates then didn't get enough the second time.
Hideous counter top color. I'm thinking Giani or some different color paint.
Still need the knobs and pulls
We need to remove this tacky carpet and stain the stairs

Ugly brass foyer light
Ugly kitchen light
Another ugly kitchen light
Another ugly brass spider shaped kitchen light
Unsightly brass knobs and missing molding
Unfinished floor
Can you say "Need French Doors?"

Yes, I could go on with the tiny television on the funny looking stand, unsightly slip covered sofas, a microwave sitting on the counter etc.  We've made a bunch of changes but clearly we have a bunch more to go. I'm thinking I need to get back in the workforce sooner than later to get the ball rolling a little bit faster. Well, even though today was a bit blase' I did see a quote on A Thoughtful Place that said "Get on your knees and pray, then get on your feet and work". That made me feel a lot better, soooo on that note I better get to it!

Hope everyone has a great week!

I've been struggling with things that need done around here too. I'm just going to have to sit down and make a list then cross them off one by one!!! Can't wait to see what you get accomplished over the next bit. Happy Monday!

I so feel you on that! When people come over they ooh and aah over what I've done, not noticing any of the (to me) glaring shortcomings. It can be easy to fall into a cycle of ungratefulness for what we have, (especially when you visit so many other blogs with their fabulous homes!) but it's important to just be grateful to have a good roof over our heads. At least so I'm told, haha!

Although I am sorry to hear you were having one of them days, your post made me feel a lot better. Several of those days have rolled around for me recently.

We have been working on a reno for 7 months(when we thought it would take 6-8 wks). I feel so ungrateful when I get frustrated that we are not further along instead of being happy for what we have accomplished, even though I know we are so blessed. It helps me to know other folks get the blahs sometimes too.

I love the quote at the end of your post. Glad to see ya back! Take care and hang in there, you'll get back in your groove soon!
