Coat Closet Organization

Well you've seen the beginning of my coat closet project here, the hanger debacle here and the stencil of the inside here. Now it's time to finalize it. There were a few more essentials that I needed in order to get all of this:

Off of the love seat and back in the closet. So I went to Lowes to get:

a coat hook and a basket. Then went to Family Dollar to get these little baskets for $2.00 each!

I took this rod that we already owned from another project, sanded it down to size, and spray painted it white.

I purchased an S hook and O ring in hopes that I could create a hanging area to utilize the vertical space.

Then I took some left over scrap wood from molding that we removed from our walls, primed it, then painted it with chalkboard paint to make labels!

Are you ready for the finished product? Well here is the before:

And here is the after!

Yay!!! I love it! Here is a close up of the specifics:

And here is the closet fully functional:

Now, I smile when I get home and hang up my coat! Oh the joy of unexpected simple pleasures.

It looks so much better (and organized)! What a fun treat to open the closet door to that fabulous stenciled wall. I have a stencil, not the same but similar, that I ordered a long time ago but I've yet to use it on anything.

This looks great! I especially like the baskets at kid level.... how did you hang those?

Wow - i stumbled upon your website and love it.
this is a really net project,
my question is how did you hang the baskets on the door? (sorry, i am a new wife and learning to do things )
Thanks :)

Ayesha and tpdval,

The baskets are actually screwed into the door. I thought it was the most secure way to get them to stay.

It looks great! I love how you attached the baskets to the door, very clever. :) Does it still look as good today as when you did it?

Thank you everyone for your comments. I have replied to some of you via email.

Believe it or not, the closet still looks just as good! It's funny how once you organize something you kind of want it to stay that way :-)
